Christian Education
The Christian Education (CE) Commission is responsible for the care, nurture, and spiritual growth of the congregation. When children are baptized in the Church, the congregation makes a promise to nurture them in their faith and to help them to know Jesus Christ. Part of the way that the Church carries out these promises is through our Sunday School program and our Youth Activities. The CE Commission oversees the staff, curriculum, and supplies needed to encourage spiritual growth on Sunday mornings, during Vacation Bible School, and during Youth Fellowship activities.
Sunday School
We meet every Sunday morning from 9:45 -10:45 a.m. The 2011-2012 school year is from September 11, 2011 through May 20, 2012.
We begin our journey each year with a "Rally Day" on the first Sunday after Labor Day and finish the year with a "Children's Day" Worship Celebration on the Sunday before Memorial Day Weekend. Other special events include the annual Christmas pageant.
We have an amazingly dedicated staff and offer classes ranging in age from 3 years through adults.
Godly Play (Pre-School and Kindergarten)
We offer a "Godly Play" class where students are encouraged to worship and engage with the Biblical Stories. Wonder is a key word in the classroom. Godly Play uses story baskets/boxes with handmade props to tell the wonderful stories of the faith in a worshipful and creative way. Each week, the students engage in discovering a different story and have time to explore the story in a variety of meaningful ways. This is a hands on learning experience that encourages students to creatively wonder about God and God’s great love for them.
Live B.I.G. (1st through 4th Grades)
Our younger Elementary School students are learning about God through the "Live B.I.G." curriculum which focuses on 3 BIG truths:
- God is a great BIG God! God is always with us, and we can trust God. We praise and worship God.
- God loves us with a great BIG love! God loves us unconditionally, and God changes us through God’s love. We can love God and follow Jesus because he shows us how much God loves us.
- We are part of God’s great BIG work! God is the Creator of this awesome world, and we can care for God’s creation. We belong in the faith community and can show God’s love to others.

Faith In Motion (5th through 7th Grades)
Our older Elementary School and Middle School students are exploring faith and faith issues with the help of the Faith in Motion Series. This curriculum takes a look at where students are in the everyday experiences of their lives and then helps to connect those experiences to faithful living.
Confirmation Class (8th Grade)
When students reach 8th grade, they are encouraged to spend the year in Confirmation Class to consider claiming the faith as their own. Confirmation classes lead to exploration of the faith and help children to Reaffirm the Baptismal Covenant and enter into full membership by reaffirming the promises that their parents made for them in Baptism. Our goal is to help our young people as they explore their own personal faith, accept Christ into their lives, and become active members of our congregation.
Church Library
Many books, videos, and CDs are available to provide an enjoyable Christian alternative to traditional media. All are encouraged to use the library.
